Thanks for the comment, Alper, I checked out the site and look forward to using it. Also, congrats on your nomination for the Next Web Awards! Quite the honor.

As I mentioned in the post, this idea was written up at the end of a long day, so I didn’t get to include anything about the fact that you couldn’t actually do this ’cause of the click fraud angle. A great thing about maintaining this blog is that I can brainstorm ideas without the burden of focusing on legal issues. I have a ridiculous amount of respect for guys like Alper who are out there in the trenches actually building the next web instead of just blathering endlessly about it.

We’ll be live soon and then you can put a “Like it? Tip it!” button on your site. We’ll handle the complexities from there on, so you can focus on making cool stuff and getting people to give money.

Nice one! I think my idea takes that one step further, by leveraging compensation from the ad network as opposed to coming directly out of the user’s pocket. Cool to see that this basic concept exists, though, thanks for the link.
